Make Pav Bhaji with Pav Bhaji Masala

The pav Bhaji is delicious food. A delicious blend of the vegetable cook in butter and spices served with soft butter tasted buns. Toasting pav is not a task, however, making bhaji is can be difficult. You will need pav bhaji masala to make delicious pav bhaji.

Preparing a restaurant like pav bhaji won’t be difficult any more when you follow this recipe. Basically, pav bhaji is served with butter topped along with chopped onions and lemon juice. The pav toasted with pav is eaten with veggie mash which called bhaji.

Tips to make pav bhaji

  • Other than mentioned vegetable, you can also add broccoli, French beans and sweet corn.
  • You can add beetroot with vegetable to get a deep red color. Instead of chili powder, you can use beetroot for color.
  • You can also garnish bhaji with mozzarella cheese.
  • Butter enhances the taste of the pav bhaji. Don’t reduce the quantity of butter while preparing pav bhaji.
  • You can serve pav bhaji with sliced onion and lemon on the side of the pav.

Ingredients

  • Oil
  • Unsalted butter
  • 3 medium-size potatoes
  • 1 medium-size onion
  • 2 medium-size tomatoes
  • Green peas
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • Carrot
  • Ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt
  • Red chili powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Water
  • Methi
  • Coriander leaves
  • Bell pepper

Step to prepare pav bhaji at home

Step 1:

Rinse potatoes, onion, tomatoes, green peas. After then you need to chop them finely. To make masala you will need 1 onion, 2 medium size tomatoes, half bell pepper, and 1 green chilli, one and a half teaspoon ginger-garlic paste. Keep these ingredients separately on a plate.

Step 2:

Add chopped potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, peas to pressure cooker. You may need one cup of water to cover them. Water should be enough to cover all the vegetables.

Step 3:

Pressure cook these vegetable to 2 whistles on medium flame.

Step 4:

When pressure release itself, open the lid. Stick the fork in the vegetable to check whether they are cooked properly or not. Vegetable should be soft.

Step 5:

Transfer the veggies to a bowl. Take a spoon then mash the vegetables. Mash them well. You can mash cooked vegetables as you like. You can mash them into small chunks or smooth them with no chunks at all.

Step 6:

To make bhaji, you need to take pan out of your kitchen cabinet and place it on the stove.

Step 7:

In the low flame, melt 2 up of unsalted butter in pan.

Step 8:

Add one tablespoon of oil in the pan.

Step 9:

When the oil is hot enough, add finely chopped onion. Stir it gently until it turns into golden brown. You might have to cook onion for 4 to 5 minutes in medium-low flame.

Step 10:

After that you need to add one and half teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and one finely chopped green chili. Cook until the smell is gone. You may have to fry it from about 1 minute. Make sure you don’t burn it.

Step 11:

Then you need to chop bell pepper. Cook chopped bell pepper for 2 to 3 minutes.

Now add chopped tomatoes and allow it to cook for 3 to 4 minutes. You need to cook tomatoes until it is mushy, soft, and pulpy.

Step 13:

You can add half teaspoon salt. You may increase or decrease salt as per your taste. The add salt according to your taste. Stir it well.

Step 14:

Add one teaspoon chili powder and one tablespoon Century pav bhaji masala. You can decrease the quality of red chili powder according to your taste.

Step 15:

Mix all the spices well. And let it fry for 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 16:

Now, you need to add boiled vegetable. Add all mashed vegetables along with half cup of water. Adding water will bring consistency.

Step 17:

Give it a good stir and simmer for a while to bring out flavor to the bhaji masala.

Step 18:

Then add ¾ tablespoon methi.

Step 19:

When the mixture reaches right consistency, add chopped coriander leaves. Before you add coriander leaves, taste the bhaji. If necessary, add salt or other masalas accordingly.

Step 20:

Switch off the flame. When the bhaji is cool add lemon juice just before serving.

Step 21:

To serve bhaji, transfer it from pan to bowl. Then garnish bhaji with cub of butter.

After preparing bhaji, now you need to make pav. Pav is basically ban which is toasted before serving.

Step 1:

To toast bun, you need to slice bun into two equal halves.

Step 2:

In a pan add one teaspoon butter. Ensure that you are toasting pav in low flame.

Step 3:

You can also add few pinches of masala powder for flavor. You can skip this step.

Step 4:

Place the bun on the butter and toast for 1 to 2 minutes until the inside of the bun is crispy. Don’t increase the flame to turn crispy. Increasing the flame can burn the bun.

Step 5:

You can also toast other side of the bun. Make sure you don’t toast the other side of the bun for a long time. You can just toast the bun for 1 minute or so.

Now you can serve pav in a plate.
